Plain English, and an accurate description of what this site actually does.
This page describes how the site works today, in plain English. It has not yet been reviewed by a Bermuda lawyer; that review is planned before any major public launch, and the page will be updated if it changes anything.
If you're looking for a business
You can search, browse and contact any business without an account, and we don't track you personally. We count visits — which pages, roughly how many different people each day, and which outside sites people arrived from — using a daily code that can't be traced back to you and changes every night. We also record what was searched for (trade, parish, search words) so we know which services Bermuda is looking for. We do not record who searched. No tracking cookies, no advertising profiles, and no IP addresses are stored.
If you post a job through “Request a quote”, we keep what you type: the trade, parish, job description, your name, and the phone number or email you give. The job description is shown to businesses in that trade and parish. Your name and contact details are shown only to a business that chooses to accept the lead, and at most four businesses can do that per job — so you should not be flooded with calls. Don't put anything in the description you wouldn't want a business to see, such as your address or when you'll be away. When you post a job you get a private link to a page that shows what's happened to it and lets you close, cancel or delete it yourself — deleting removes your name, contact details and description immediately. That link is the only way to the page; we don't log it or include it in any statistics, and if you gave an email we send it there once. Jobs not deleted by you are kept for as long as they're actionable and can be deleted on request at any time.
If you tap “Save” on a business, that's remembered in your own browser's storage — the business's name and page, nothing else — and never sent to us. Clear it any time from the saved page or by clearing your browser data.
If you run a business listed here
Most listings were compiled from public sources — the Bermuda Yellow Pages, the Chamber of Commerce's public member directory, and businesses' own websites — and each listing links to where its information came from. We publish only business contact details that were already public. You can claim your listing, correct it, or have it removed at any time, free, without an account.
If you create an account we store your email address and a securely hashed password — never the password itself. To claim a listing you'll confirm your email address by clicking a link we send; that's how we make sure a listing goes to the business that owns it. Changes you make to your listing, and any logo you upload, are reviewed by us before they appear publicly. If you accept a customer's lead we record which job, when, and what it cost, because that is what we invoice against.
What we use
The site runs on Vercel and stores its data in a Neon database, both in the United States. Vercel Web Analytics gives us a second, independent visitor count; like our own counting it is cookieless and does not identify individuals, which is why this site has no cookie banner. Emails — job notifications, review decisions, and address confirmations — are sent through Resend, which processes the recipient's address to deliver them. To keep the forms working under abuse, we count how often each connection submits them; that count uses a scrambled code, not the address itself, and clears within an hour.
How long we keep things
Search and visit counts are kept as aggregate statistics. Job requests are kept while they're actionable and to support invoicing, then deleted on request. Account details are kept while the account exists. Deleting your account removes your login and unlinks any listings from it; the listings themselves stay public unless you ask for them to be removed too, since they describe a business rather than a person.
Your rights
Bermuda's Personal Information Protection Act gives you rights over personal information about you, including asking what we hold and asking us to correct or delete it. To exercise any of them, use the listing request form — it reaches us directly and doesn't need an account. We aim to respond within two business days.
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, uploads are checked before they're stored, and access to anything non-public is limited to the people running the site. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your information we will tell you.
Changes
If what we do with information changes, this page changes with it. See also our terms of use.
