What will you actually take home?
Bermuda has no income tax. Four things come off a payslip, and this works all four from the rules that set them — not a tax site's flat guess.

Three things the salary sites get wrong about Bermuda
- There is no income tax, and no flat payroll tax either. Several calculators still apply a flat 6%. Since 2019 the employee share is progressive: 0.25% on the first $48,000, then 7.75%, 10.75%, 11.5% and 12.5% by band, capped at $1,000,000.
- Social insurance is a fixed weekly amount, not a percentage. It is the same dollar figure for a cleaner and a CEO, matched by the employer. On a low salary it is the biggest deduction; on a high one it barely shows.
- Health insurance and pension are deductions too. Your employer must insure you for at least the Standard Health Benefit and may deduct up to half the standard premium. Pension is 5% of salary, matched. A calculator that skips them overstates your pay by hundreds a month.
Common questions
- Is there income tax in Bermuda?
- No. Bermuda has no personal income tax, no capital gains tax and no tax return for employees. Employers pay a payroll tax and may deduct the employee share from salary.
- What is the employee share of payroll tax in 2026?
- For April 2026 to March 2027: 0.25% on the first $48,000; 7.75% from $48,001 to $96,000; 10.75% to $200,000; 11.5% to $500,000; 12.5% to $1,000,000. Nothing above $1,000,000.
- How much is social insurance?
- A flat weekly amount split equally between employee and employer — $37.65 each from August 2025, rising 4.25% from August 2026 under the 2026 Order, about $39.25 each.
- How much health insurance can my employer deduct?
- Up to one half of the standard premium under the Health Insurance Act 1970. The Standard Premium Rate is $439.55 a month from 1 April 2026, so at most $219.78 a month for the standard benefit.
- Do work-permit holders pay into a pension?
- Since 2020 employers must enrol eligible employees regardless of immigration status, with exceptions for short work permits. The rate is 5% from you and 5% from your employer. Ask your employer what applies to your permit.
- What does $100,000 take home in Bermuda?
- With every deduction: about $3,970 payroll tax, $2,041 social insurance, $2,637 health and $5,000 pension — roughly $86,350 a year, or $7,195 a month.
